Since 2016, MISSA participation in the Lower Lake St. Clair Leukemia Cup Regatta has been a highlight on the High School Racing calendar. Each year over 100 High School Sailors showed their love of sailing while helping raise funds for a fabulous cause. These young Sailors brought out the best of School Athletics and made local news for their involvement and contribution to the community.
New for 2018 is a change of venue from Crescent Sail Yacht Club to the newly constructed beautiful Sailing Center at Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. This Regatta’s past popularity and success dictated a change to the GPYC’s fabulous facility. This will add more resources, better parking, superior accommodations, and a fantastic spectator viewing area from the second story balcony. Bring your family and friends who can now participate cheering for the School!
The Lower Lake St. Clair Leukemia Cup Regatta is one of over 45 Regattas across the United States. These regattas to date have raised over $50 Million towards life-saving cancer research. Please visit the Lower Lake St. Clair Leukemia Cup Regatta webpage to learn more about the whole event.
Thank your for your participation in 2017. It was a great success! Our goal for 2018 is to continue to grow this event, increase participation, and yet maintain the “fun factor” with excellent racing.
Again this year, each participating High School will have a “School” fund raising page set up by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This allowed an expansion of the competition found on the race course into the school. Now even the non-sailor students can participate supporting their School and Sailing Team. We are looking forward to continuing this next year!
